SAAARAAAAAAAP SYDNEY!

The fam represented the Consulate at the Sydney screening of "Ulam: Main Dish", a fantastic documentary that tracks the rise of the Filipino food scene in the States. The film was very well made, told some fascinating stories, and prompted the most profound thought-provoking question: saan tayo kakain pagkatapos?

Ha! We discovered following the screening that there was an afterparty onsite put together by Australia's own Filipino Food Movement, a local group of foodies and restaurateurs who can't get enough of Pinoy pakain.  Well then.

You know it's all good when the LLDD-baby's eyes get EVEN bigger

This seems as good a time as any to give a personal sarap shout-out to all the Pinoy places we've been to in Sydney. Y'all have proven to be as huge and happenin' as any other Fil-food scene in the world.  (well, yes, Sydney still got no Jollibee, but with places like these, we still good)

Mama Lor

Where I cut the ribbon on my ribbon-cutting duties

my double chin quickly became a triple right after the lunch

Pamana

The biggest of the fine-dining places I've been to, it holds it own among all the other Asian restaurants in the Chatswood commercial hub, and is versatile enough to host anything from intimate dinners to big charity events.

to LLDD-Baby comedy bar stylings

Descanso

A glorious discovery in the university belt-ish Glebe neighborhood. Also happens to be right next door to a top rated beauty salon where the LLDD-Hyphen-L gets her "kilay is life" groove on

so wins all around

Pasalubong

A pop-up that's popped-up in a couple of street fairs in leafy North Sydney. Can definitively confirm that the Aussies' lines for the bbq and fishballs are longer than for any other food stall

your passport ain't gonna help you jump the queue, sweetie

Mate Burger

An anchor of Paskombalong, this food truck can be found ruining Sydneysiders' diets at Vivid and other big festivals and night markets across the city.

"is that sisig fries I smell, dada?"

"lumayo ka, akin'to"

Sydney Cebu Lechon

Located in the oh-so-hip Newtown district, the locals' lines to get their lechon fix can stretch all the way 'round the corner (well, okay, the restaurant's located at a corner, but still).  And the Filipino Food Movement also schedules special Mabuhay Nights sittings with guest chefs and surprise dishes.

'say mo?

Postscript

Hunh. Turns out Time Out's just come out with a more appealing and appetizing article.  Had I known, I would've spent less time typing and, well, kumain na kaagad ako

S'all good =)
