The simple cool multicultural moments are always the best. We were invited to a special "Celebrating Disciples of All Nations" mass in north Sydney, and it was...heavenly. The diverse cultural communities of the diocese were invited to take part wearing traditional dress, and portions of the mass were delivered in various ethnic languages, highlighted by a 15-versions rendition of "Amazing Grace"
sung by a Filipino choir, of course =)
This brings back memories of one of my favorite things back in the U.K., the yearly Philippine Independence Day mass that gathered dozens of children of different provinces to say the Prayers of the Faithful in their native dialects. (I swear, there is nothing more adorable than hearing a young Batangueno express their devotion) My regret back then and even now is that I couldn't take pictures or video anything while inside the church during services. Those would have been cool to see over and over. But, yeah, I did still get to take in and enjoy all the post-mass multicultural fun and festivities.
led by a Filipino choir, of course =)
