Some random thoughts on common sights around Sydney
The Jacaranda is my new favorite thing
Not just because it's gorgeous, and it brightens everything around it, and it's the sign that spring is in full swing -- it's just so freakin' fun to shout "Jacaranda" every time you see one.
try it: Jacaranda. Jacaranda! JACARANDA!!!!
Nice Terraces
London has endless arrays of terrace houses that mostly look alike and, well, don't actually have terraces. Sydney, on the other hand, has waves and waves of beautifully ornate balcony grills that make you stop, stare and be mesmerized.
so effing metal
Them City Birds Get Up Close and Personal With Ya
Well and good if they're pretty Cockatoos, Lorikeets or Galahs...
...but not if they're Kookaburras that shrilly laugh at me (rather than with me)...
...or magpies that attack bikers so fiercely they have to mad max their helmets...
...or are just plain creepy Ibis
misunderstood my ass. they freak me out like Skeksis.
The Harbor Bridge is the Perfect Photobomber
Tip to instagrammers: it's impossible to take a bad picture if the Sydney Harbor Bridge is in your background.
ok, it IS possible, but that's not the bridge's fault
